Yellow painted cycles have sprouted up everywhere, they are eye catching and fun, attached to door frames, gateposts and shop fronts. Temporary pieces of home crafted art, brilliantly marking the route for the Tour de Yorkshire. As it zooms past my street tomorrow and through ‘sunny Donny’ I wanted to remind you of someone local you may have heard of.
Ben Parkinson, a local hero from my birth place Doncaster, in my opinion was the star of the whole Olympic torch event in the UK. A war veteran, injured but fighting back so strongly, sport so often part of his rehabilitation and fund raising. Check out his web page you will truly be inspired:
