Writer. Introvert. Book addict. Knitter. Eco-advocate. Mum and Nannan. Educator and coach.
I’ve had more jobs, homes, ideas and fresh starts than I can count. And I’m still figuring it out.
In my teens…
In my teens…
13, first job. 15, left school.
17, left home, nightmare flat shares.
Joined the army, left again.
Multiple jobs.
First mortgage.
Spent Saturday nights, 2-8am at the cinema watching Kung Fu films.
First piercings.
In my 20s…
Worked hard,
‘partied’ hard behind a bar to pay the bills.
Still had absolutely no idea what I wanted to do when I grew up.
First business, knitwear.
First house with a garden.
First tattoo.
First adopted BIG dog.
In my 30s…
Moved house again, and again.
Became a single parent to my awesome daughter.
Still hadn’t worked out what I wanted to do when I grew up.
Accredited as both a nail tech and an artist.
First redundancy.
First real taste of giving back – volunteer work with teens and children.
In my 40s…
Accepted my successful career with blue chip companies wasn’t what I wanted to do when I grew up.
Study, worked full-time to pay the fees.
Six years of deadlines = graduation – BA Honours in Literature.
Qualified as a YA mentor and swimming teacher.
Second dog adoption, dog even had tattoos! Equally loopy.
Launched 1-2-1 coaching and indie author business.
First book published.
In my 50s…
Got married. Moved again, back to where I was born.
Became a grandmother. More than once.
Skin cancer – F*ck Cancer!
Diagnosis, surgery, all-clear.
Lost both parents.
Yet another redundancy.
Left the rat race – a hard decision after 40yrs on the ladder.
More tattoos.
In my 60s…
Tears, doubts, rebellion and anger.
Some things fell apart.
Others came together.
Single again. Another house move.
Embracing
my neurodivergent genes.
It wasn’t all easy,
sometimes it was downright scary,
but I don’t do regrets.
So here I am. Still independent. Still stubborn AF.
And next…
I’ve got more books to write and read, tattoos and piercings I crave, new health and lifestyle aspirations, creative goals to investigate, places to see, time to spend with those I love.
Plans change. Life happens. I overthink sh*t so who the heck knows.
Why not come along for the ride?
For an introvert that’s a rare invitation, but let’s see what happens next.
Yes, some content will be on Substack, where paid subscribers help keep the writing going, and as an indie author multiple income streams are necessary, and fun.
