Adelaide, Reconciliation Plaza – good to see

Adelaide Market Art - faceWe weren’t sure what to expect in Adelaide, everyone had things to say about Sydney and Melbourne, however no one really commented much on Adelaide. I liked it, we didn’t have long to make the most of it however I loved the feel of the place. As you will know by now, I love a bit of good architecture, art, history and culture.

I was stunned at this piece. I was born in the 60’s so to see just how recently it was deemed necessary to take decisions about racism and societal injustice which I would have hoped was distant history was truly shocking. I guess any ‘restoration of rights‘ or ‘righting a wrong‘ is a good thing however isn’t it sad we still have this fight on our hands in a civilised society.

I just read today about an aboriginal actor being refused a taxi, twice, so maybe even today we still have a way to go yet.

Well done to the city for memorialising such an important change and acknowledgement, hopefully it will lead to the equality we all strive for.
